Planning your project

Installation day should start before installation day.

Prepare for window replacement with a clear plan for access, furniture, pets, finish repairs, inspections, and the final walkthrough.

Settle the responsibilities first.

Before the crew arrives, review the opening schedule, access plan, work hours, and included protection. Confirm who removes and reinstalls blinds, alarm contacts, screens, and other items attached near the openings. Ask which rooms will be affected and how the home will be secured as work progresses.

Make space for the work.

Move fragile objects and clear a practical route to each opening. Discuss heavy furniture in advance instead of assuming it will be moved for you. Arrange a separate space for children and pets. Keep delivery, parking, and debris-removal areas available.

Expect the opening to get attention.

The existing frame is removed, the opening is assessed and prepared, and the replacement is installed according to its approved details. Anchoring and sealing matter. Concealed deterioration can become visible only after removal; agree how additional work is documented and authorized.

Finishes are part of the conversation.

Discuss stucco, drywall, sills, trim, and painting in the written scope. Color and texture matching may have practical limits. Confirm what “cleanup” covers and who handles any window treatments or alarm sensors afterward.

Walk through before calling it done.

Check operation and locks, review maintenance, and list any outstanding finish items in writing. Keep product information and permit records available for required inspections. Confirm the status of inspection closeout and where to request service. A short documented handover is worth more than a hurried goodbye.

Explore replacement windows, find your area, or start a project conversation.
