ES Windows impact windows and doors. A homeowner's guide.

Who builds ES Windows, how Multimax, Elite, Prestige, Legacy and uPVC differ, which models are impact-rated, and what the warranty covers.

ES Windows is the Tecnoglass window and door brand.

ES Windows is the window and door brand of Tecnoglass Inc., a Miami-headquartered company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (TGLS). ES has its U.S. office in Miami, and its principal manufacturing is in Colombia. Tecnoglass acquired ES Windows in 2016. It extrudes its own aluminum and processes its own glass, including Low-E coatings. The ES range covers single-hung, casement, sliding and fixed windows, sliding and French doors, pivot doors, window walls and a glass garage door. True Impact is an authorized ES Windows dealer. Every ES series is laid out by product type at our ES Windows page.

ES sorts its range into lines.

The line name tells you a lot before you read a single spec. The four aluminum lines work like steps: Multimax is the value line, Elite is the core single-family impact line, Prestige is the luxury impact line and Legacy is the thin-frame architectural line. Vinyl (uPVC) lines, an entry door range and a large catalog of numbered aluminum series sit alongside them. Here is what each line is built for.

  • Multimax: slim aluminum frames, laminated glass, white or bronze only. Built for multi-family projects and tighter budgets.
  • Elite: the ES line built for single-family homes, with more colors, woodgrains, grids and insulating-glass builds than Multimax.
  • Prestige: mostly thermally broken frames, larger glass, narrower sightlines and Kynar paint as standard, for custom and luxury homes.
  • Legacy: ultra-slim, fully thermally broken frames for design-led homes, mostly outside hurricane-impact zones. It is not an impact-rated line.
  • Elite uPVC: aluminum-reinforced vinyl frames about 3 1/4 in. deep, with a Florida Product Approval for every model.
  • Series 76 and Series 88 uPVC: tilt-and-turn systems designed for northern climates.
  • Numbered series such as 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 6000 and 7000: workhorse aluminum products for condos and commercial buildings, many with Miami-Dade NOAs.

Not every ES product is impact-rated.

This is the most important point when you shop ES. Legacy carries no missile-impact rating, and no Legacy model has a Miami-Dade NOA or a current Florida approval. Most of Series 88 is not impact-rated, and in Series 76 only the insulating-laminated glass build is. The ES-FX4017, ES-PGD3040, ES-P300, ES-SGD2020T and PSD5030 also come in non-impact versions, approved outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) only. Laminated glass on its own does not make a window impact-rated. The exact model and version matter.

  • Small-missile-only (SMI) products, such as the ES-5600 awning and the Series 1100, 1600 and 2100, are typically meant for higher floors.
  • The Series 2100 NOA requires impact shutters up to 30 ft above grade.
  • The Multimax uPVC models (ES-VL1000/VL1500/VL2000) have no published impact rating.
  • A few catalog items are not impact-rated, such as the ES-SD450, the ES-21/35/50 stile doors and the ES-4518 interior storefront.

ES holds NOAs and Florida Product Approvals.

ES Windows holds 54 Miami-Dade Notices of Acceptance (NOAs) and 31 Florida Product Approvals. The Elite aluminum models and most numbered series carry NOAs. Three Multimax models share numbered-series NOAs: the MX1500 is the ES-1500/1600, the MX2000 is the ES-2000/2100 and the MX3000 is the ES-3000. Ask us to confirm the approval for the MX1000 and MX4000. Many Prestige models, including the SGD2020, SGD2020T, 46T, PSD5030, P300 and FX2020, carry Florida approvals instead, and every Elite uPVC model has one. The approval for your exact size, glass and wall governs, not the headline rating, and True Impact confirms the current approval for each opening before permitting. The full list is at the ES Windows product approvals page.

Glass and finishes step up by line.

Multimax is laminated only, with Solarban 70 Low-E as an option. Elite takes laminated, insulating or insulating-laminated glass with a Low-E SB70 option; on the EL100 and EL150, interlayer choices are Saflex/Kuraray PVB, Vanceva Storm and SentryGlas Plus. Prestige typically uses insulating-laminated glass, with ultra-clear or colored interlayers. Elite uPVC offers 7/16-in. laminated, 7/8-in. insulating and 1-in. insulating-laminated glass. Finishes follow the same steps.

  • Multimax: white and bronze only (AAMA 2604 paint), with corrosion-resistant hardware for coastal areas.
  • Elite: Silver, Dark Gray, Bronze, Black and White as standard, plus anodized, painted and woodgrain finishes. Hardware comes in Bronze, Clear Anodized, White or Black.
  • Prestige: Kynar paint as standard, Champagne Bronze (a special finish subject to availability), two-tone and custom colors, coastal hardware, and Mahogany, Nogal, Teka, Sapely, White Oak, Pine, Golden Pecan and Olive woodgrains.
  • Legacy: Kynar paint as standard, AAMA 2605 colors and woodgrain finishes. Hardware comes in Black or Satin.
  • Elite uPVC: White as standard, with Black Smooth, Ceylon Smooth (bronze), Golden Oak, Mahogany and Walnut foils. Hardware comes in Black or White.

The ES warranty, in plain words.

Coverage starts on delivery, and ES repairs or replaces defective products or components at its option. Residential warranties apply to the original purchaser only and are not transferable. To keep the warranty valid, wash your windows and doors with tap water at least every six months and keep proof of cleaning. Kynar paint is the recommended finish near the coastline. ES must be notified in writing within 90 days of finding a defect, and claims go through your dealer. By line, Elite comes with a 10-year paint-finish warranty that covers coastal environments and a 10-year glass warranty, and Prestige and Legacy carry a 10-15 year Kynar finish warranty. The warranty certificate for your order sets the final terms; ask us for a copy.

Which homes and openings ES suits.

ES fits almost every opening on a South Florida home, as long as the line matches the job. Elite is built for single-family homes: flush and flange frames suit concrete openings and retrofits, and fin frames suit wood construction. Multimax suits multi-family projects, tight budgets and homeowners who want basic impact protection in white or bronze. Prestige suits custom homes that want big glass, narrow sightlines and better energy performance. Elite uPVC suits owners who prefer vinyl frames. Legacy and most of Series 88 belong outside hurricane-impact zones. Compare the impact series on our Impact Single-Hung Window page, our Impact Sliding Glass Door page and the other product pages.

How True Impact quotes ES.

We quote ES opening by opening from real measurements. Each line item names the exact series, configuration, size, glass build and finish, because those details set both the cost and the approval. As a rule, Multimax is the budget-friendly line, Elite and Elite uPVC are mid-range, and Prestige is premium. The step up buys real features: insulating glass, more colors and woodgrains with Elite; thermal breaks, larger panels, narrower sightlines and Kynar paint with Prestige. Elite uPVC costs more than the matching Elite aluminum model, partly because it normally comes with insulating-laminated glass. If you are deciding between two lines, ask us for a side-by-side quote on the same openings.

Questions about ES Windows.

Costs, timing, approvals, and the details worth asking about.

All your questions, answered
Is every ES Windows product impact-rated?

No. Legacy is not impact-rated, most of Series 88 is not, and several Prestige and uPVC models also come in non-impact versions approved outside the HVHZ only. We confirm the exact model and version for each opening.

What is the difference between ES Elite and Prestige?

Elite is the core single-family impact line, with standard aluminum frames, five standard colors and laminated, insulating or insulating-laminated glass. Prestige adds thermally broken frames on most models, larger glass, narrower sightlines and Kynar paint as standard, and it is the premium line.

Does ES Windows have Miami-Dade NOAs?

Yes. ES Windows holds 54 Miami-Dade NOAs and 31 Florida Product Approvals. Many Prestige models and every Elite uPVC model use Florida Product Approvals rather than NOAs.

Is the ES warranty transferable?

No. Residential warranties apply to the original purchaser only. Washing your windows and doors with tap water at least every six months, with proof of cleaning, keeps the warranty valid.

Is True Impact an authorized ES Windows dealer?

Yes. True Impact is an authorized ES Windows dealer, and we can quote Multimax, Elite, Prestige and Elite uPVC side by side for the same openings.
