GIG impact windows and doors. A homeowner's guide.
GIG builds aluminum impact windows and doors in Hialeah.
GIG Windows & Doors is a Florida manufacturer, distributor and supplier of aluminum impact windows and doors, with a facility in Hialeah. Its residential range covers single-hung, horizontal-rolling, casement, awning and fixed windows, plus outswing French doors and sliding glass doors. It also makes commercial storefront and entrance systems. Two lines stand out. The S-21000 fixed window comes in designer shapes, and the S-26000 sliding door comes in two- to five-track, pocket and corner configurations. True Impact is an authorized GIG dealer. We measure, quote, permit and install GIG windows and doors, and the full lineup is on our GIG Windows page.
The GIG lineup, series by series.
GIG keeps its range simple, with one series for each type of opening. Choosing is mostly a question of how the opening should work and how big it is. The windows and doors are 6063-T6 aluminum, in the same three finishes and the same glass tints. GIG does not make an impact pivot door or a thermally broken door. Here is the full range.
- S-20000: single-hung window, with equal or uneven (oriel) sashes.
- S-18000: horizontal rolling window in XO, OX or XOX layouts.
- S-8000: outswing casement, project-out awning and a matching fixed window, sold as the fixed casement.
- S-21000: fixed window in rectangles and special shapes.
- S-24000: outswing French door, single or double, with optional sidelites and transom.
- S-26000: sliding glass door in 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-track frames, with pocket and 90-degree corner options.
- S-70000 and S-12000: commercial storefront, entrance door and fixed glass window wall systems.
- S-14000: clipped aluminum mullion that joins approved units.
- S-28000: glass railing. No current Florida approval is listed for it; ask us before specifying it.
GIG has 12 Florida Product Approvals.
All 12 are approved under the 2023 Florida Building Code. They are Florida Product Approvals, not Miami-Dade NOAs. Each comes with an installation drawing that sets the sizes, glass, anchors and design pressure allowed. The S-8000 has three approvals and the S-70000 has two, so one series can carry more than one number. The S-20000, S-18000 and S-8000 are approved in Florida for high-velocity hurricane zones. The approval for the exact size, glass and wall governs, including over any brochure or product page. True Impact confirms the current approval for each opening before permitting. Every approval is on the GIG Windows product approvals page.

Ratings change with glass and size.
A GIG rating belongs to a specific size and glass build, not to the series as a whole. The S-20000 single-hung shows how much this matters. At the full 53-1/8 x 74-1/4 in. frame, 7/16 in. SentryGlas laminated glass reaches +120/-150 psf, the highest full-size rating of any GIG operable window. The same frame rates +90/-90 psf with 7/16 in. PVB laminated glass, and +80/-80 psf with 5/16 in. laminated or 11/16 in. insulated glass. The S-8000 is rated +/-72 psf at its largest sizes with any listed glass, and up to +/-120 psf in smaller units with SentryGlas. That is why we choose the glass to match the rating each opening needs.
Glass, tints and energy values.
Every GIG line comes in laminated glass, and most offer insulated laminated glass too. Low-E options are SB-60 or SB-70 (SB-70XL on the S-21000). Tints are clear, gray, bronze and Solexia green, plus a white interlayer. Each series' Florida approval sets the glass makeups allowed. For example, the S-18000 approval drawing lists 7/16 in. laminated glass only, while the S-21000 drawing runs from 5/16 in. laminated up to 7/8 in. insulated laminated. Insulated laminated glass lowers the U-factor. Brochure values (2022) for the S-20000: U-factor 1.05 with laminated glass, and 0.75 clear or 0.65 low-E with insulated laminated glass.
Finishes, hardware and the warranty.
Every GIG line comes in white, bronze or clear anodized aluminum. On the S-18000, bronze instead of white does not add to cost, while low-E glass and a SentryGlas interlayer each add noticeably. Windows can add colonial muntins and an equal-leg frame. The single-hung and roller have self-closing egress locks. The casement and awning use a stainless roto operator, concealed stainless four-bar hinges and a multipoint lock of up to 5 points. The GIG warranty is a 10-year wholesale limited warranty. You can register it and file a claim online, and GIG's warranty page has the full terms.
Which homes and openings GIG suits.
GIG's residential lines suit houses and condos, and its commercial systems suit shops, offices and lobbies. The S-20000 suits bedrooms and standard openings where a traditional look, egress and budget matter most. The S-18000 suits wide, short openings and spots where a sash that slides sideways is easier to reach. The S-8000 catches breezes and suits kitchens and hard-to-reach spots. The S-21000 suits large views, tall narrow sidelights and shapes over doors or in stairwells. For patios, the S-24000 French door opens the whole doorway, while the S-26000 slider saves swing space and can wrap a corner without a post. See our Impact Single-Hung Window page and our Impact Sliding Glass Door page.
How True Impact quotes GIG.
We measure each opening, note the wall type and work out the design pressure it needs. Then we choose the GIG series and the glass that its approval allows at that size and rating. The S-20000 single-hung is the lowest-cost operable window in the range, and the S-18000 roller is close to it, slightly higher. Casement, door and shaped-window costs depend on size, glass and configuration. Ask us for a side-by-side quote. Your written quote names the series, configuration, glass, finish and approval number for every opening, and we confirm the current approval before permitting.
