Mr. Glass impact windows and doors. A homeowner's guide.
Mr. Glass builds aluminum impact windows and doors in Medley.
Mr. Glass, in full Mr-Glass Doors & Windows Manufacturing, makes aluminum impact windows and doors for homes and businesses. It is based in Medley, in Miami-Dade County. Its headquarters, two manufacturing plants and a powder-coating facility are all there. Mr. Glass publishes its catalogs, CAD drawings, installation manuals and energy values (U-factor, SHGC and VLT) online, so you can look up any product before you choose it. True Impact is an authorized Mr. Glass dealer. We measure, quote, permit and install Mr. Glass windows and doors, and the full lineup is on our Mr. Glass page.
The Mr. Glass range, opening by opening.
The windows cover single-hung, horizontal-rolling, fixed, casement and awning styles. The doors cover two-track and multitrack sliding glass doors, outswing French and entry doors, a pivot door and a thermally broken coplanar door. For larger openings there are window walls and mullions that join units together. Commercial projects add the MG-500 door, the MG-5000 and MG-5500 storefronts and the MG-2000 and MG-7000 curtain walls. Here is how the residential series line up.
- Single-hung: MG-200 and MG-350 SH.
- Horizontal rolling (sliding) windows: MG-300 and MG-350 HR.
- Fixed and picture windows: MG-350 PW, MG-400 and MG-450.
- Casement and awning: MG-600.
- Sliding glass doors: MG-1500 and MG-1000 (two-track) and MG-1100 (three-track multitrack).
- Outswing French and entry doors: MG-3000 and MG-3500.
- Pivot door: MG-4000. Thermally broken coplanar door: MG-2500T.
- Window wall: MG-250, plus the commercial MG-6000. Mullions: MG-150.
Two frame families shape cost and performance.
Most Mr. Glass windows fall into two families. The MG-350 series (single-hung, horizontal roller and picture window) shares a slim 2-3/16 in. frame and one glass build, 5/16 in. laminated. These are the budget-friendly lines, rated +65/−80 psf for the single-hung and ±65 psf for the slider and picture window. The MG-200 single-hung, MG-300 slider and MG-400 picture window share a deeper 2-7/8 in. frame. They take thicker glass, including 7/16 in. laminated with a SentryGlas interlayer and insulated laminated glass, and they carry higher ratings. They sit in the mid-range. The doors follow the same pattern: the MG-1500 and MG-3000 are the budget-friendly sliding and swing doors, with heavier-duty and designer series above them.
Mr. Glass products carry Florida Product Approvals.
The residential range is covered by 17 Florida Product Approvals, plus a separate approval for the MG-450 impact louver. Several are on their sixth or seventh revision. LMI marks a large-missile impact approval and SMI a small-missile one. The MG-200, MG-250, MG-300, MG-450, MG-1000, MG-1100 and MG-1500 each have separate LMI and SMI versions. Older Miami-Dade NOAs on some commercial systems have expired, so the current Florida approval is the document that counts. The approval for the exact size, glass and wall governs every opening, and when a catalog and an approval differ, the approval wins. True Impact confirms the current approval for each opening before permitting. Every approval document is on the Mr. Glass product approvals page.
Glass, tints and energy values.
Mr. Glass windows and glass doors use laminated impact glass. The entry build is 5/16 in. laminated (1/8 HS + 0.090 PVB + 1/8 HS). Heavier lines step up to 7/16 in. or 9/16 in. laminated, and a SentryGlas interlayer reaches the higher ratings in several series. Insulated laminated glass lowers the U-factor. On the MG-350 single-hung, tints are clear, gray, bronze, Solex green or Solargray, with Low-E (Solarban 70) and a translucent white interlayer, and most other lines offer Low-E and tints too. NFRC-simulated U-factors for the MG-200 run about 1.05–1.12 with laminated glass and about 0.69 with insulated-laminated Low-E glass. The MG-2500T door is the only thermally broken Mr. Glass product.
Finishes and the warranty, in plain words.
Mr. Glass frames are aluminum. AAMA 2604 powder coat is standard, and AAMA 2605, Kynar and wood-grain finishes are available. Under the October 1, 2025 warranty, the AAMA 2604 finish carries 10 years on owner-occupied homes, but it is not covered within 2 miles of the coast or any salt water. The AAMA 2605 upgrade also carries 10 years, and it is the only finish still covered within 2 miles of salt water. Wood-grain finishes carry 5 years on owner-occupied homes and are not covered within 2 miles of salt water. If you live near the water, ask for AAMA 2605. The full limited warranty (October 1, 2025 revision) has the rest of the terms.
Which homes and openings Mr. Glass suits.
Mr. Glass has residential lines for houses and condos, and commercial systems for larger buildings. The MG-350 lines suit everyday bedroom and living-area openings where wind loads are within their ratings, and the slim frame helps in retrofits. The 2-7/8 in. lines suit tall openings, wide sliders, higher wind-load sites and insulated glass. For patios, the MG-1500 covers everyday doors up to 9 ft tall, the MG-1000 takes panels up to 12 ft and the three-track MG-1100 suits very wide openings. At the front door, the MG-3000 suits French doors, the MG-3500 a designer entry and the MG-4000 pivot a statement entry on a covered doorway. Condo and high-rise units can use the MG-250 window wall and the SMI versions. Compare opening types at our Impact Single-Hung Window page and our Impact Sliding Glass Door page.
How True Impact quotes Mr. Glass.
We start by measuring each opening and noting the wall it sits in and the design pressure it needs. Then we match it to a series and glass build that the approval allows at that size. Where two series fit, such as the MG-350 SH and the MG-200, we show both side by side so you can see what the deeper frame, thicker glass and higher rating add. Your written quote names the series, configuration, glass, finish and approval for every opening. Before permitting, we confirm the current approval for each one. Ask us for a side-by-side quote.
