EMC impact windows and doors. A homeowner's guide.
EMC builds aluminum impact windows and doors in Miami.
EMC Windows and Doors, LLC makes aluminum impact windows and doors in Miami, Florida, at 3695 NW 74th St. The company was formerly based in Hialeah. EMC builds from 6063-T6 aluminum and keeps stock windows and doors on hand for short-notice jobs. Its range runs from single-hung windows and patio sliders to a large-opening slider, a glazed garage door and commercial storefront framing. True Impact is an authorized EMC dealer. We measure, supply and install EMC windows and doors, and the brand page at our EMC Windows page lists every EMC series.
The 2100 series covers most home openings.
EMC's core line is the 2100 series: four window types and two patio doors, all in aluminum. It is made for homes and light-commercial buildings replacing standard window and patio-door openings. Each 2100 model has two current Florida approvals: an older one revised for the 2023 code, and a newer one approved in 2025-2026 with new drawings. The newer approvals raise some ratings and sizes, such as the SH2100 to +110/-140 psf and the FX2100 to 98 x 96 in. Some of the newer approvals are large-missile only.
- SH2100 single-hung: a fixed top lite over a bottom sash that slides up.
- HR2100 horizontal rolling: two-lite XO/OX or three-lite XOX layouts, approved up to 111 in. wide.
- FX2100 fixed (picture): a non-opening window; the 2026 approval covers frames up to 98 in. wide by 96 in. tall.
- CS2100 casement: a crank-out sash with a multipoint lock and stainless steel four-bar hinges.
- FD2100 outswing French door: one or two outswing leaves, with optional sidelites.
- SG2100 sliding glass door: from a two-panel XO up to eight panels on four tracks.
Larger and commercial openings have their own systems.
For bigger openings, EMC builds five more Florida-approved systems, all rated for large missile impact. The SG5100 slider reaches 236 x 120 in. The GD5100 is a sectional garage door with laminated glass panels. The SF2100 storefront, Atlas 4500 window wall and 350-MS door are framing and entrance systems for commercial buildings. Ask us about availability for any of these five before you plan around one.
- SG5100 large-opening sliding glass door: up to 236 in. wide (OXXO) and 120 in. tall, in 2- and 3-track versions.
- GD5100 glazed impact garage door: up to 144 in. wide x 96 in. tall, in 24 in. tall sections.
- SF2100 storefront: 96 in. max frame height, with overall width unlimited with mullions.
- Atlas 4500 window wall: commercial glass up to 120 in. tall.
- 350-MS commercial outswing door: single or pair, with a 3-point lock and optional panic hardware.
EMC has 18 Florida Product Approvals.
EMC windows and doors carry Florida Product Approvals, not Miami-Dade NOAs. EMC has 18 Florida Product Approvals, all Approved under the 2023 Florida Building Code. All 18 cover impact-resistant products approved for use in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which includes Miami-Dade and Broward. The six 2100 models and the SF2100 storefront carry two approvals each; the SG5100, GD5100, 350-MS and Atlas 4500 carry one each. The approval for the exact size, glass and wall governs each opening, and True Impact confirms the current approval for every opening before permitting. The full list, with installation drawings, is at the EMC Windows product approvals page.
Impact and pressure ratings change by model and approval.
Every EMC model is rated for large missile impact, and several are rated for small missile too. Design pressure, shown in psf, is the wind load a unit is approved to resist, in positive and negative values. It drops as sizes grow, so the load chart for your opening sets the final number. Here are the top ratings on the approvals.
- SH2100: up to +110/-140 psf with the heat-strengthened glass on FL47859; large and small missile on both approvals.
- HR2100: up to +90/-130 psf on FL47864; large and small missile on FL17595-R3.
- FX2100: up to +90/-100 psf on both approvals.
- CS2100: up to +/-80 psf with laminated glass and +/-70 psf with insulated glass (FL35387-R1).
- FD2100: +/-65 psf, with large and small missile on both approvals.
- SG2100: +80/-100 psf on 2-track with the heat-strengthened glass.
- SG5100: +/-65 psf, large missile.
Glass and finishes.
Every EMC unit uses laminated impact glass. The 2100 series and the SF2100 storefront also offer insulated laminated glass. Builds vary by model and approval, and the interlayers include Glasslam, PVB, SentryGlas and Saflex Storm. Heat-strengthened glass carries the top ratings on the SH2100 and SG2100. EMC publishes no thermal break and no NFRC ratings for its products. On the 2100 series, custom colors and finishes are available; the approval drawings show white powder-coated extrusions. Finishes for the large-opening and commercial systems are not published, so ask us when you choose one.
- SH2100 on FL47859: 5/16 in. laminated (annealed with Glasslam, or heat-strengthened with PVB), 7/16 in. heat-strengthened laminated with SentryGlas, and 13/16 in. or 7/8 in. insulated laminated.
- SG2100 on FL17596-R3: 7/16 in. heat-strengthened laminated with Saflex Storm or SentryGlas, or 1/2 in. annealed laminated with Glasslam.
- SG5100: one build, 9/16 in. laminated (two 1/4 in. heat-strengthened lites with a 0.090 in. PVB interlayer).
Ask us for the warranty terms.
EMC does not publish its warranty online. Ask us for the written warranty terms for the exact EMC products you choose, and read them before you order. Keep a copy with your Florida Product Approvals, installation drawings and permit records. That way the terms and the paperwork are in one place if you ever need service on a window or door.
Which homes and openings EMC suits.
EMC suits homes and light-commercial buildings replacing standard window and patio-door openings. The SH2100 fits bedrooms and standard wall openings, including higher-pressure coastal sites; see our Impact Single-Hung Window page. The HR2100 fits wide, short openings such as Florida rooms. The FX2100 brings in views and daylight where no ventilation is needed, and the CS2100 swings fully open where airflow matters most. For patios, the FD2100 French door works where there is room for the doors to swing out, and the SG2100 slider covers standard patio and balcony openings up to wide multi-panel glass walls; see our Impact Sliding Glass Door page. The EMC range has no awning window, pivot door or thermally broken door.
How True Impact quotes EMC.
We start with your real openings. We measure each one, note the wall type and the wind load it must meet, and match it to the EMC model and approval whose size, glass and design pressure fit. Where a 2100 model has two approvals, we use the one that covers your opening: the newer approvals raise some ratings and sizes, and the older approvals add small missile on every model. We confirm the current approval for every opening before permitting. Ask us for a side-by-side quote.
