Series comparisons

EMC series compared: SG2100 vs SG5100 and every line.

Compare every EMC series by product type: sizes, glass, psf ratings and missile impact, from the SH2100 single-hung to the SG5100 sliding door.

EMC's range comes in two groups.

EMC splits its range into the 2100 series for homes and light-commercial buildings, and a group of large-opening and commercial systems. Every model carries Florida Product Approvals, all approved for use in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Frame depth is not published for any EMC model, and no EMC model has a published thermal break or NFRC ratings. So the real differences between EMC series are how they open, how big they go, the glass, the design pressure and the missile rating. The table below lists every series; the sections that follow compare them product type by product type.

Single-hung: one SH2100, two approvals.

The SH2100 is EMC's only single-hung: a fixed top lite over a bottom sash that slides up. It holds two current Florida approvals, and both cover large and small missile, inside and outside the HVHZ. Both show a 53-1/8 in. wide x 76 in. tall frame on the typical elevations. The 2025 approval, FL47859, adds more glass builds, and its load chart also covers frame heights up to 96 in. at reduced pressures. With its heat-strengthened glass it reaches +110/-140 psf, the highest pressure rating of any EMC window. It suits bedrooms and standard wall openings, including higher-pressure coastal sites; see our Impact Single-Hung Window page.

Horizontal rolling: the HR2100 covers wide, short openings.

The HR2100 slides sideways in two-lite XO/OX or three-lite XOX layouts. Both approvals cover frames up to 111 in. wide x 74 in. tall. FL17595-R3 lists XO/OX and XOX in 1/3-1/3-1/3 and 1/4-1/2-1/4 splits, and covers large and small missile. The newer FL47864 is large-missile only, but it adds more glass builds, with Glasslam, PVB or SentryGlas interlayers and raises the top rating to +90/-130 psf. The approvals stop at 111 in. wide, and the approval governs. The HR2100 fits Florida rooms, or spots over counters where a lifting sash is awkward; see our Impact Sliding Window page.

Picture windows: the FX2100 goes bigger on its 2026 approval.

The FX2100 is a non-opening picture window. Its 2026 approval, FL47862, covers elevations up to 98 x 96 in., plus a 53-1/8 x 76 in. elevation, and width and height can be swapped. The older FL17583-R3 stays at 53-1/8 x 76 in. but adds small missile protection. Both rate up to +90/-100 psf, lower at larger sizes and with some glass types. FL47862 offers 7/16 in. laminated, 7/8 in. insulated laminated and a thicker insulated laminated unit (G4); FL17583-R3 offers the first two. The FX2100 can be joined to operable windows with separately approved mullions. Use it for views and daylight where no ventilation is needed; see our Impact Picture Window page.

Casement: the CS2100 opens fully, and EMC makes no awning.

The CS2100 is a crank-out casement with a multipoint lock and stainless steel four-bar hinges. The sash swings fully open, so it suits rooms where airflow matters most. The FL35387-R1 load chart covers buck sizes from 24 to 48 in. wide and 48 to 96 in. tall; at 96 in. tall, widths stop at 30 in. That approval uses large-missile glazing up to 30 ft above grade and small-missile glazing above 30 ft. FL35387-R1 uses 1/2 in. laminated glass with a Glasslam interlayer or 15/16 in. insulated laminated glass. The newer FL47861 is large-missile only and adds 7/16 in. heat-strengthened laminated glass with PVB and 7/8 in. insulated laminated glass. The EMC range has no awning window. See our Impact Casement Window page.

Choosing between the four EMC windows.

All four 2100 windows are aluminum impact windows with current Florida approvals for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Choose by the shape of the opening and how you want it to open. The SH2100 suits standard, taller-than-wide openings and carries the highest rating. The HR2100 slides sideways and covers much wider openings, up to 111 in. The FX2100 does not open, and its 2026 approval reaches 98 x 96 in. The CS2100 opens fully for airflow. The SH2100 and FX2100 can each be joined to other windows with separately approved mullions. Once the type is chosen, the load chart sets the exact size and design pressure for your plans.

Sliding doors: SG2100 or SG5100.

The SG2100 is EMC's everyday slider. It runs from a two-panel door about 8 ft wide up to eight panels on four tracks, and its two-track version carries the higher +80/-100 psf rating with heat-strengthened glass. Both of its approvals cover large and small missile. FL17596-R3 uses 7/16 in. heat-strengthened laminated glass with Saflex Storm or SentryGlas, or 1/2 in. annealed laminated with Glasslam; FL47858 adds 5/16 in. laminated and 3/4 in. insulated laminated. With other glass and on 4-track doors, the SG2100 rates +/-65 psf, lower on the tallest 4-track sizes. The SG5100 is built for bigger openings: frames up to 120 in. tall and up to 236 in. wide in an OXXO layout, with one heavier laminated glass build rated +/-65 psf. The SG5100 is large-missile only; ask us about availability before you design around it. See our Impact Multitrack Sliding Door page.

Hinged doors: the FD2100 French door and the 350-MS.

The FD2100 is EMC's hinged patio door, with one or two outswing leaves and optional sidelites. Both approvals cover large and small missile at +/-65 psf, or +/-60 psf with unreinforced sidelites. A pair goes up to 75-1/2 in. wide, and with sidelites the OXXO layout reaches 147-1/2 x 95-7/8 in. Next to the SG2100 slider, the French door opens the full width of its leaves, but it needs clear space outside for the leaves to swing. The slider needs no swing space and covers wider openings. The 350-MS is a storefront-style outswing door for shops and offices, set into EMC storefront or window-wall framing. It rates +/-75 psf with its standard 3-point lock and flush bolts, and +/-50 psf with optional panic hardware; ask us about availability. The EMC range has no pivot door. Storefront, window wall and garage door.

These three systems serve specific jobs, and all three are large-missile rated; ask us about availability. The SF2100 is an impact storefront for ground-floor commercial glass. On its FL47857 approval, the G4 glass build does not comply with FBC Section 2411.1.11, so G4 is not specified without confirming with EMC and the building official. The Atlas 4500 is approved in Florida's Curtain Walls subcategory as the Atlas 4500 Series Window Wall. It frames commercial facades, including the 350-MS door, and its mullion and jamb charts govern each layout. The GD5100 is a sectional garage door with laminated glass panels for modern glass garage fronts, up to 144 in. wide x 96 in. tall. See our Impact Window Wall page.

The approval for each opening makes the final call.

Ask us for a side-by-side quote. For homes, the 2100 series covers single-hung, horizontal rolling, fixed and casement windows, outswing French doors and sliding glass doors; check availability first for the larger and commercial systems. Then let the facts in these tables guide the choice: the shape of the opening, how it should open, its size, the design pressure it needs and the missile rating. Where a 2100 model has two approvals, the one that fits your opening's size, glass and pressure decides the build. The approval for the exact size, glass and wall governs, and True Impact confirms the current approval for every opening before permitting. Every EMC approval and installation drawing is listed at the EMC Windows product approvals page, and the full range is at our EMC Windows page.

Questions about EMC Windows.

Costs, timing, approvals, and the details worth asking about.

All your questions, answered
What is the difference between the EMC SG2100 and SG5100?

The SG2100 is EMC's everyday slider, from a two-panel XO up to eight panels on four tracks, rated up to +80/-100 psf for large and small missile. The SG5100 is built for bigger openings, up to 236 in. wide and 120 in. tall, rated +/-65 psf and large-missile only.

Why do EMC windows have two Florida approvals?

Each 2100 model has an older approval revised for the 2023 code and a newer one approved in 2025-2026 with new drawings. The newer approvals raise some ratings and sizes, and some are large-missile only.

Is the EMC FD2100 French door rated for small missile?

Yes. Both of its Florida approvals, FL47863 and FL29477-R2, cover large and small missile at +/-65 psf.

Does EMC make an awning window or a pivot door?

No. The EMC range has no awning window, pivot door or thermally broken door. For ventilation, the CS2100 casement swings fully open.

Which EMC series costs the least?

Ask us for a side-by-side quote for your openings.
